WASHINGTON ― Donald Trump used small donors money to buy nearly $300,000 worth of books from the publisher of his Art of the Deal last month, continuing a pattern of plowing campaign money back into his own businesses.
The Oct. 15 Federal Election Commission filing for Trump Make America Great Again Committee does not specify which books in particular were purchased, but the committees own website suggests it was Trumps 1987 business bestseller.
Ive signed an out-of-print, hardcover copy of The Art of the Deal just for you, because I want you on board with Team Trump! Trump wrote in an Aug. 2 fundraising email, which went on to offer the book for a minimum donation of $184.
Trumps statement calling the book out-of-print, repeated on the committees website, however, is false. The Art of the Deal had a new paperback edition printed last October, and the hardcover is currently in print and available from Random House and retail booksellers. Barnes and Noble, for example, sells it for $22.35.

(1,907 posts)Let's look at the whole deal here and probably gains for him. Since it appears he is in this just for the con and his pocket book.
1. On that pic it shows different prices. Uses the sales technique of making it sound like you are getting some kind of fantastic deall if you act right now. Don't think about it or wait too long or you will miss this opportunity.
2. The actual price he paid is a lot less then the retail price. But even buying $300,000 worth of books at $20 each that's 15,000 books. Looks good when they say "x" sold. Boost of the ego for him.
3. He gets a percentage back directly to his pocket for each book sold.
4. He says he is signing them. One of his big money makers is dipshit branded stuff. Adding his signature to the book in his mind adds value. So what do you think the chances of him charging a fee for each book he signs?
5. Expect more sales pitches to come from him pushing the book as it gets closer to election day. With "Once in a lifetime discounted offer of Autographed books".
Now a little more on what other gains as a whole for his "campaign".
All money he has made during this time he doesn't have to return or turn over to anybody. So what are his plans for it?
1. As a possible slush fund for paying off other elected officials. From what I understand money left over can be donated to other people's campaign fund. He no longer has to use his foundation money to get favors.
2. He could use it for things like travel expenses. All he would have to say was he is doing a exploratory trip to look at options for future runs at elected office. Makes a great way to pay for a business trip or vacation.
3. Use it to fund groups like citizens united, project veritas, pacs etc. He already has paid money from his campaign funds to project veritas. Even if he never runs for another office this is something that would help his need for vengeance. He seems to never forget any kind of slight.
4. Even though he has "forgiven" at least one of his loans to the campaign will he get some of the money directly back?
