Kurt Eichenwald, a breaker of news on Trump, clarifies Comey letter (updated)

1. FBI not reopening the investigation.
2. Comey legally had 2 inform Congress, because he testified they had finished reviewing evidence,

When u discover information that requires you to amend ur testimony, you have to do so immediately, particularly as a government official...

...However, the FBI should have known that this letter would be misread by people who don't know procedures - both "reopening" and when...

...letter was sent, so Comey shouldve been clearer in what he said. Now we're going to have a day of "sources" dialing back interpretations.

Kurt has zero reason to prop up Trump. Hell, his family was threatened by deplorables as he reported in Newsweek. But Comey did what he had to do. Asshole Republicans who received letter turned it into this and media is responding to it.

But this will calm down. Patience.

see that. But I SO agree with you about Kristen Welker. She is consistently negative in her reporting about Hillary's campaign. I cannot stand her either.

about Kirsten Welker. Is she hyperventilating
like she did when Hillary stumbled on 9/11?
I was sure she was going to pass out. She was so breathless, she could barely speak. I
Do believe she is an understudy for Andrea Mitchell.

. . . you know how they work in these days of the 24/7 news cycle and way too much information. They react immediately to stories without checking them out. More often than not, they get egg on their faces.

But I don't know why you're so worried. About 15 knowledgeable reporters - including dyed-in-the-wool Republican Pete Williams on NBC - are already pushing back on this on Twitter and on the networks. It's completely clear that this actually has nothing to do with Hillary.

The story will be dead by tomorrow.

For those keeping score: The New York Times is reporting the Comey/Email story correctly. The Washington Post is not.
