I missed that day in Communications 101.
We must remember that when we are voting that the implications of our decisions and/or "bad" decisions will impact our children even more so than they effect us. We should encourage our children to take an active role in paying attention to what will be their future and voice their opinion. Does democracy only start when you are 18, is that when your opinion counts on your future counts?
The best example of the long term implications of this election is the appointment of the Supreme Court Judges.
How do kids feel about guns for all, everywhere, without proper vetting of individuals who would do them and others harm?
They do have an opinion and have to learn to take an active role in expressing it.
Canvassing as a 12 year old for McGovern, I know that I influenced people's opinion who at the time were only concerned about short term political objectives.
This is about the future and many of us will not be there to experience it, our kids will. How do they feel? They should let us know and hopefully many will decide that short term anger over what they see a broken system will not allow us to discard it as some ply on the worst in human nature. Anger and greed supported by simple minded bullying.
