If we work with Donald Trump and our agreement improves his approval rating

and then he uses that increased popularity to repeal Obamacare, to abolish Medicare as we know it (as Ryan wants), to deport millions, to make Muslims register with the government and to eliminate scores of environmental regulations and protections.

will partnering with him without any agreement to change or abandon the most extreme proposals be a giant mistake?

i think so. at the very least, with the folks he's putting in charge of things and his extreme plans, the idea of trying to work with him where he "seems reasonable" is a huge risk.

After the way the R's treated President Obama for eight years?

No how, no way.

I hope they choke on whatever success they manage to wring out of our opposition.

lowered the bar so drastically on minimum wage to $10 an hour. He excoriated Hillary for thinking $12 was a doable number to begin with.

And I don't see where he will be reasonable in any situation.

then he will take credit for fixing Washington. But if they stop him at every turn, then he will get blamed for failing on his biggest campaign promise.
