and it didn't just happen with Trump.

Rs have increasingly acrued power in congress and at the state level, they had it all on November 7th.

Trump just was the fuel injected, on steroids authoritarian figure head to put the cherry on top of the fascist sunday.

WE MIGHT see some draw back to civil discourse and sober public service post Trump, assuming there is a post trump, but too many barriers have been totally smashed and it just won't be the same.

Bush II was a dimwitted dolt, but he was a somewhat affable guy who was VERY disciplined in that he said, and while he surrounded himself with hard right wingers, they still had that public service mindset. This crew has absolutely NONE of that.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
