(25,699 posts)"MSNBC says that Fox is reporting that a post on facebook referenced to an Email from MoveOn.org that says the Huffpo was writing an article about Harry Reid's reaction to rumors that an unnamed source hinted at a possible deal" is not actually a news report.

(25,699 posts)"If Still_One eats puppies, as some sources claim, would you think less of him?" MSNBC asked Harry Reid today.
"Well... Yes, I suppose I would" Reid replied
Doesn't actually mean you eat puppies, does it? But it does allow someone - an unnamed someone - to accuse you of doing so, and the media to promulgate the accusation.

However, I understand the point you made, and it is valid, though most sources are unamed, which is how Washington has always played their trial balloons

I donated a good chunk of change not only to the President but also to the Democrats, so don't call me an Obama hater
I supported him big time in both elections
However, if this story is true, and he gets rid of COLA, are you still not going to criticize, unless of course you are for those kind of "tweaks" to social security and medicare

(30,439 posts)If this is true, I don't understand why Obama would want to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
It makes no sense. Also, he's already played into GOP hands by detailing entitlement cuts. He needs to make the GOP detail the entitlement cuts they want.
