Wall Street Journal Editor in Chief Gerard Baker said using the word "lie" in stories about Trump's false statements could deliberately mislead readers.

1. Once the claims made by Trump are proven untrue and he doubles down on them

Then they are lies. Over and over Trump has continued to make the same false statements, from his birtherism to the claim he saw thousands of Muslims celebrating on 9/11 - even after those claims have been proven to be false by multiple sources.

Once he knows they are not true, then every time he makes the same claim again he is LYING.
