the talk radio guys have already declared him the enemy, so they'll end up nominating Jeb or Rubio the Ken doll instead.

Hillary will steamroll them in 2016.

The Koch gang wants Ryan. The fetus fetishists want Santorum. The Looneytarians will want Rand Paul. The latter two groups were ordered to shut up and do what they were told in 2012 to run the "electable" guy and they not only lost, they were shellacked. They're not going to sit down and shut up in 2016.

In fact, I'm expecting the cameras to turn away from the occasional fistfight on the floor.

2012 saw them shocked and dispirited. That's not going to last.

He seems to be setting himself up as a pragmatic elder statesman. Of course, it seems like the crazies would have to pipe down for him to be interested, and that may, as suggested, be impossible.

So, that's good.

He's a pragmatic elder statesman all right, but I sincerely doubt he'd have anything to do with running for office in the GOP as it is constituted now.

Someone else?? I think the success or failure of the Rs in the midterms (2014) may have a say in who or what type of candidate they run.

they can get away with just changing their "messaging", rather than their policies in order to broaden their base. I see no signs of the GOP recognizing that its policies are unpopular with a majority of Americans.

It's amazing how deluded the Republicans really are. Oh well, it's probably best to keep them believing their bullshit. That way, they'll keep losing elections.
