2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWTF? Paul Ryan is a genius.
Paul Ryan - "We have to show our ideas are better at fighting poverty, how our ideas are better at solving healthcare, how our ideas are better at solving the problems people are experiencing in their daily lives," the Wisconsin congressman told NBC's "Meet the Press" program.
-----------
This is brilliant.
They have to show how their ideas, in total contrast to reality, are better for poverty and healthcare. They just need to show how blocking every attempt at solving America's problems is good for America.
Genius. Absolute genius. I love this guy.

(6,234 posts)It's easy to say that our ideas are better, but in truth we don't have any ideas or proposals. Our leaders aren't talking about how to fight poverty, they are proposing austerity and cuts to social security. Our leaders don't have a plan to address healthcare costs, their solution was to simply force people to buy insurance they cannot afford. Our solution to jobs was (and is) to ship the overseas. I would say I want to see less talk and more action, but we aren't even bothering with the talk.
So yeah, knock Ryan all you like, the guy is as evil as they come, but the guy is out there doing his job and fighting for the people who sent him to Washington. And it comes down to this:
People want leadership and we are not providing it. Republicans are the party of NO, we are the party of I DON'T KNOW. And in the absence of leadership from us, the people are going to look to whoever is offering answers. Right now, incredibly, that's Ryan.

(98,407 posts)We don't have any ideas or proposals? We have no jobs plans...sure, we Democrats do...However the GOP will not let anything pass congress. Our leaders don't have a plan to address health care costs? What planet do you live on and what party do you support. Really! Read the links below...

The Only party that is preaching to the choir about austerity is the GOP! You are saying, okay let me wrap my mind around this, that Paul Ryan is the one that is giving us the answers. This is the man that wants to cut social security, medicare and medicaid. He wants the poor to pay more than the one percent. The man that honors a fetuses life more than a Womans!
Are you fucking Serious!

(6,234 posts)First, Ryan is absolutely offering solutions. The solutions he is suggesting might be insane, but he's out there fighting for them. And that, my friend, is a fact. Paul Ryan is as passionate about spreading his gospel as any revival tent minister.
Ryan has a PLAN. Ryan has lots of plans. He's going to fix poverty, add jobs, eliminate the deficits, attack the debt, save grandma, cripples will walk and the blind will see. Praise Jesus! He's got plans, and he is out there every day selling them to the American people. He's fighting for those plans, he's a believer and he wants you to believe to.
And our plans?

1) Privatize Medicare
2) Privatize Social Security
3) Upper-Income Tax Cuts that will hopefully trickle down to the masses.
4) Slash environmental protections
5) Slash business regulations
let's see how they play in public

(5 posts)I'm starting to wonder if the majority of the P.O.E. ("party of extremism" aka GOP)has a rogue protein in their collective brain that causes them to think the way they do. Freaking amazing.
