http://www.courant.com/news/opinion/todaysbuzz/hc-is-gop-abusing-filibuster-in-blocking-nominee-for-defense-secretary-20130214,0,5424260.storyAre Senate Republicans abusing the filibuster by blocking a vote on Chuck Hagel?
Yes. Before this week, no nominee for defense secretary had ever been denied a confirmation vote with a filibuster.
No. Chuck Hagel is a terrible choice for defense secretary. Top Republicans warned Obama to pick someone else, and he defied them.
Yes. Republicans resorted to a record number of filibusters in the last Congress to block Democrats at every turn. This latest example shows the GOP still doesn't intend to let the majority rule.
No. The Obama administration could have avoided the Hagel filibuster by releasing information it's withheld about Benghazi. But Democrats would rather whine about Republican obstruction

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
