For President:

His VP choice:

Ryan has bona fides with the corp. Republicans and the base. So, he will be trusted to campaign from the center. Graham brings foreign policy gravitas to the ticket.

The Republican movers-n-shakers really, truly believe that the voters only support Obama because he's Black. They really, truly believe that what they need is a token.

So, these are where they'll be putting out feelers:
* Bobby Jindal
* Marco Rubio
* Herman Cain (If he can bribe his accusers to be silent)
* Nikki Haley
* Susana Martinez

...a failed vice presidential candidate who couldn't win his home state. Ryan has no national appeal whatsoever.

It was not for these reasons, but that Obama and Hillary were better that he was not the choice - though the media designated him as a serious candidate - an honor they did NOT give to Biden, Richardson, Dodd or Kerry (even when he polled higher than Edwards) in 2005.

FDR is the only losing VP nominee who ever became president. Hell, Bob Dole is the only other one that even won his party's nomination for president and that wasn't until 20 years later! A schmuck like Ryan isn't going to break this trend.

You would need to consider both a better John Edwards. The point is that there was a time when he had more support on Daily Kos and here than either Obama or Clinton. In addition, as said, he was given more support by the media as one of the 3 top tier candidates - something not accorded to the most accomplished Biden, Dodd and Richardson.

I think that Ryan fails because he is Ryan and he is too extreme. I suspect that as 2016 will likely be an open election on both sides, that this is not a year when the Republicans will cede the nomination to someone seen as unelectable. At this point, I think Ryan unelectable. Strangely, the Republicans who are becoming continuously more extreme will likely for the THIRD time go with someone seen as the more moderate establishment candidate.

Second, I'd have no problem with them being the nominees. Little Lindsey will probably win his state, but Ryan wouldn't have a chance winning his home state.

They would lose NC, Indiana, and Missouri. Depending on who the D candidate is a few other states could be in play as well.

Ryan would throw them the Ayn Rand racist/rugged individualist/anti-everything that's not white male bait they adore.

I can't recall who said it, but the perfect summation of Hoosiers: they're always spying on their friends/neighbors looking to catch them 'trying to put one over' but at the same time, themselves, trying to 'put one over' at every turn. (ie: busy-body hypocrites & cheaters).

Thank Goddess I'm only an implant, and hopefully not a permanent one.

and his mother is one of those types of people. He said he kind of dreads going back because he has to listen to all the conspiracy theories for two weeks. The last time he went, he wrote them all down in a notebook (just for the fun of it). At the time we were both living in China. When he came back he was telling me all about it. Some of them are just so stupid you can't help laughing pretty hard.
