2014 MI US Senate and MI Governors Election.

2014 MI Governor.
Gary Peters-D polls better than Virg Bernero and Mark Schauer in general election matchup against Rick Snyder-R.
2014 MI US Senate.
Republican nominee will be US Rep Justin Amish-R.
Peters-D should run for Governor. Schauer-D should run for the US Senate.

plus she's been vilified here since she left office. She'd have a tough time winning state wide again.

And NOW the GOP needs to be VILIFIED for what they've done with their power. To my mind, Granholm would be their worse nightmare..the "we told you so" possibilities are endless. I know a lot of people who were "mad at Jenny" but now have seen their MI Income tax returns and everything else and are furious with "the NERD."

she inherited a mess from John Engler and most of her problems when it came to Michigan's economy had more to do with Bush's economic policies at the federal level. But you're giving Michigan voters too much credit. She still carries around that stigma of being a bad governor. It wasn't that long ago that I heard a co-worker say "Snyder is just as bad as Granholm was." She'd have to do a lot of work to win that senate seat. Her "blown away" comment would haunt her in TV ads and she'd be slimed by the GOP super PACs. It's still too soon because she is still not remembered fondly by the average Michigan voter. Yeah she'd be seen as having been a better governor than Snyder is, but that's not saying much. Plus she wouldn't be running against Snyder.

Her best bet is if she somehow won the Democratic primary and faced a tea party Republican in the general (which might be possible). If the tea party crowd in here in Michigan nominated somebody like Pete Hoekstra again or Justin Amash or Jack Hoogendyk, she could definitely beat them. But if the Democrats here want a former governor to replace Levin in the senate it would make more sense to nominate Jim Blanchard instead of Jennifer Granholm. But I think the best candidate would probably be Gary Peters, but I'm hoping he'll run for governor instead. I'd love to see Virg Bernero in the senate for the next 30 years. He and Bernie Sanders would be a perfect duo.

Snyder has not proved to be the moderate Republican he campaigned on. Michigan absolutely knows what a moderate Republican governor looks like. Governor Millikan was certainly one.

Many MI Dems undoubtedly remembered Millikan when they pulled the lever for Snyder. They were all deceived, as we all now know. Some of us were saying so before the election.

But, seriously, fuck anyone who pulled the lever for Snyder. There were plenty of us saying what he was and what he was capable of. Extra fuck any Dem who voted for him (and the "liberal media" that endorsed and excused him).

Back in 2010 I told anybody who would listen that all that "one tough nerd" bullshit was all an act. He was a wolf in sheep's clothing. The key to beating him is voter turnout. The tea partiers are also angry with him because he vetoed that gun bill right after Newtown. So the Democratic base HAS to turn out in 2014 and not be apathetic and stay at home like many did in 2010. There was no excuse for turning a blue state so red that they swept everything. We really need to get the SoS office back in 2014 too.
