Priebus: RNC to spend 10M on minority outreach this year

By Meghashyam Mali - 03/17/13 01:55 PM ET

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus said Sunday the organization would spend $10 million this year on efforts to reach out to minority voters.

Priebus on CBS’s “Face the Nation” previewed the effort which he said would send hundreds of RNC employees into ethnic communities across the nation.

“We’re going to be announcing a $10 million initiative just this year and it will include hundreds of people, paid across the country, from coast-to-coast, in Hispanic and African-American, Asian communities, talking about our party, talking about our brand, talking about what we believe in,” said Priebus.

Priebus said the workers would be “part of the community on an ongoing basis, paid for by the Republican National Committee to make the case for our party and our candidates.”

Most of it will probably be spent on dirty tricks and fake grass roots organizations like SlaveryBuildsCharacter.org.

But let's say some of it were to go into advertising. What would such an ad say?

"We really like you Negroes after all." And "That's mighty fine migrant farm work you Mexicans are doing."

The GOP had a huge campaign to try to take over the Latino radio stations with conservative voices. There was almost no reporting on that. How did that work out?

I think they will find out that your average minority isn't quite so gullible as your typical redneck racist hillbilly. It isn't going to be as easy as writing a check for $10M.

Maybe I should grab that one because it sounds like that will be in big demand among Republicans in the next election cycle.

good points, all.

And, ANYTHING the modern republican party does with money is seen as nothing more than a money grab.

10 million dollars will be broken down to:

4 million paid to about "administrative" type people who never even talk to a minority.

4 million in expenses for some posh office spaces and walking around money.

2 million to throw around to whatever clowns they can get to take a few bucks to actually shake hands with minorities.

include shrinking government to the point where it can't help those who need help, "self-deporting" or otherwise marginalizing immigrants, and talking about minorities and the poor as freeloaders and leeches who should be kicked off all forms of welfare "for their own good," they might as well flush that $10M down the toilet, because they won't get anywhere. There isn't enough lipstick in the world to prettify the pig that is the underlying racism of the GOP.

if he believes minorities are going to be taken in by the ignorant, half-assed propaganda that the repugs produce.

No amount of money will counter the statement made above at CPAC during a forum on race relations.

these jokesters sure are experts at wasting cash. If he wants to throw $10M down the drain, I would gladly do it for him. Hell, I've been wanting to get myself a driver's license, a new ride, and buy my own house.

The best waste of $10 million I've ever heard of (besides flushing it down the toilet).
