http://bluntandcranky.wordpress.com/2013/04/24/state-legislator-make-children-work-for-their-school-lunches/Snip: "A West Virginia Republican state legislator said exactly that. If a child gets their school lunch paid for, this Dickensian (accent on dick) jackass thinks they should be made to perform janitorial duties, landscape work, and so forth.
Really, Mr. Canterbury? Child labor? Forcing six-year-olds to haul trash and push power mowers? You DO know thats illegal, dont you?"

(4,186 posts)..arrogant rich bastards. The picture would not be very nice...and the reality worse. If you let the kids who can pay for their lunches--clean the toilets--then maybe.

(34,582 posts)I was on the free lunch program. I don't know how many lunches I skipped just due to the embarrassment. Now some asshat wants to add more? I would gladly pay more property taxes so ALL kids received free lunches at school- breakfast, too.

The family fills out a federal application for free or reduced lunches and breakfasts.
This is against public law.

(21,046 posts)For lunch. Their mom fixed it. This was in high school. The family had five kids and their dad was a minister.
They marveled over my lunch. My mom made an eye of round roast, and I got good roast beef sandwiches on white bread.
We didn't know about wheat bread then.
