2016 Postmortem

At this point, a poll showing Hillary Clinton as the overwhelming favorite for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination is about as close as politics gets to a sure thing.
The latest findings from Quinnipiac University released on Thursday served as a reminder of that, with 65 percent of Democratic voters nationwide saying they would vote for the former secretary of state if the partys presidential primary were being held today. Clinton lapped the other potential contenders included in the poll, claiming a more than 50-point advantage over the rest of the hypothetical Democratic field. Vice President Joe Biden registered only 13 percent support. Battling low name recognition, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) and Maryland Gov. Martin OMalley all failed to eclipse 5 percent support.
The gulf separating Clinton and the rest of the prospective crop of candidates is hardly unprecedented. A Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll on Tuesday showed 63 perent of Democrats nationwide identifying Clinton as their preferred choice for 2016, crushing both Biden and Cuomo.
Meanwhile, a survey from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling last week found Clinton in a commanding position in New Hampshire, a perennial general election battleground state and home to the nations first presidential primary. Clinton earned the support of 68 percent of Granite State Democrats Biden was a distant second with 12 percent while also easily topping both Sens. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) among all New Hampshire voters in hypothetical 2016 match-ups.

(13,444 posts)She may even flip a couple of red states to blue. She will also be able to continue the work stared by Obama in 2009-2011 as nothing of substance will arrive from Congress until 2017.

(30,254 posts)Hillary has not stated that she's running. She probably won't say anything until after the midterm election in 2014. The media apparently wants to start the next presidential campaign more than 3 years before it will take place.

(30,254 posts)These people are supporters of Hillary and wish that she would run. They are NOT her surrogates. As of now, she hasn't announced that she's running for anything.

You would be quite naive to think the Clinton's don't have a full time staff for their bidding - people like that rodent Lanny Davis. You should google him and Honduras.

(24,096 posts)On January 20, 2007, she announced that she was forming an exploratory committee and filed with the Federal Election Commission to seek the nomination of the Democratic Party. Subsequently she began fundraising and campaigning activities. For several months Clinton led opinion polls among Democratic candidates by substantial margins until Senator Barack Obama pulled close to or even with her. Clinton then regained her polling lead, winning many polls by double digits; by autumn 2007 she was leading all other Democratic candidates by wide margins in national polls.[4] She placed third in the Iowa caucus to Barack Obama and John Edwards,[5] and trailed considerably in polls shortly thereafter in New Hampshire before staging a comeback and finishing first in the primary there.[6]

(22,651 posts)Sooner rather than wait many years. Think this push for 2016 is a waste of precious time that would be best served getting rid of the lock Rs have on state and local gov.
The most local of levels where the corruption in some areas is totally unregulated. Could lead to the R loss of power, if the gerrymandering and the corruption were exposed.
