New Democratic Coalition & Old Democratic Coalition

Let me define those terms so I can get it out of the way.

New Democratic Coalition - “coalition of the ascendant” young people, minorities and college-educated whites, especially women

The New Democratic Coalition is prevalent throughout the Sun Belt and is particularly important in Virginia, Nevada, Colorado, and Florida.

Old Democratic Coalition - blue-collar whites and college-educated men

The Old Democratic Coalition is prevalent throughout the Midwest and is particular important in Wisconsin, Iowa, and Ohio.

Bill Clinton, of cause, represents the Old Democratic Coalition while Barack Obama represents the New Democratic Coalition.

This leads to the question of whether we will be able to hold those mid-western states. Those states can very well drift away from Democratic control.

Another question to consider: Will Hillary (and other future Democratic presidents) represent the New Coalition or the Old Coalition?
