Why Republicans are in Trouble

Pew Research finds that Mitt Romney received just 17% of the non-white vote in last year's presidential election.

"Non-whites were 26.3% of all voters in the 2012 election, a record high share. But they compose an even higher share of all U.S. adults age 18 and older -- 33.9%. By 2020 this share will rise to 37.2%, and by 2060 it will be 54.8%, according to Census Bureau projections. If the racial voting patterns from the 2012 election persist, the electoral playing field for future Republican presidential candidates will become increasingly difficult."

And do you really think they're going to just lay down and die?

I just now responded to the following thread, which contains an excerpt from Fox News Latino (!) :

Yup...you better believe that in the next few years, the repugs are going to spend millions, if not billions, on cornering the Hispanic media market. Right wing propaganda--not just for white folk anymore.

We have to continue to hold and attract minorities to vote D. Just the fact that they are increasing doesn't necessarily mean we'll get all of their vote.

All it takes is one big goof up with outreach or someone saying something and it could screw it up.

But that's exactly what they're doing. It's mind blowing to watch.

You can't spend your way out of long-term, deep-seated, racially based hate.

Although Rand Paul has touted himself as a champion of civil liberties, his record on civil rights is far murkier.

The Tea Party lawmaker came under scrutiny during his 2010 campaign for Senate when he argued that the Civil Rights Act should never have included Title II, the provision that barred private businesses from discriminating against customers on the basis of race. He told the Louisville-Courier Journal in 2010, “I don’t like the idea of telling private business owners—I abhor racism. I think it’s a bad business decision to exclude anybody from your restaurant—but, at the same time, I do believe in private ownership.”
In a subsequent interview with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, he refused to directly answer whether or not be believed private businesses have the right to refuse to serve black people.

“I’m not in favor of any discrimination of any form,” he responded. “I would never belong to any club that excluded anybody for race. We still do have private clubs in America that can discriminate based on race. But I think what’s important about this debate is not written into any specific ‘gotcha’ on this, but asking the question: What about freedom of speech? Should we limit speech from people we find abhorrent? Should we limit racists from speaking?”

That's what I thought, not so good. Leopard's cannot change their spots nor can the GOP!

Thanks babylonsister, solid Op, spot on!

8. Republicans rely on pandering to the stupidest members of society.

These morons form the major part of the Republican base and the GOP has become expert at drawing them in without giving anything back.

They haven't tried to woo the imbeciles who are black or Hispanic but when they decide to do so you can bet a large contingent of fools will follow them over the cliff. They don't have to offer any concessions, they just have to keep bombarding them with empty propaganda and the dim witted idiots will fall right in line.

So don't gloat yet. There are plenty of pinheads left to fill up the GOP ranks.

Material geared towards non-whites. That big long mess of a goplutocratic primary in 2012 was a little too much for sane people.

The newt, ricky, herman, and mitt show.. rofl.

12. I get the gist of this article

and I don't want to sound like a broken record, but it's a fallacy for the author to include Hispanics as "non-White", simply because they come in all races. This article talks about racial voting patterns, but Hispanic is an ethnic group, NOT a race. The actual percentage of "non-White" voters is probably much smaller than 26.3%.
Nevertheless, I'm enjoying the downfall of the Reds. Their only hope now is to either cheat and rig elections, or for depressed turnout among the Dems.
