2. The White House could put an end to it.....

or so I believe. Put the appropriate people at a news conference, lay out the facts, the timeline and call it case closed. But why bother? Fox has been blathering on for the last 8 months. It's a huge distraction. Everything the repubs do is shadowed by the Benghazi cloud. "Up next Beghazi...." "Next hour, somebodies friend heard something about Benghazi" Blah Blah Blah. Brilliant play by the White House.

The huge difference is.. Democrats don't try to destroy their own country to make political points. reCons don't give a shite about anything except destroying PBO and Hillary in this case. Sucks for them.

thanks for the article by Bob Cesca, JEFF

5. That may be true, but

none of those incidents ended with a dead US Ambassador.

I'm not saying that the GOP isn't cynically exploiting Benghazi for domestic political purposes.

But I'm not so sure we should trust the White House's and State Dept's explanations, either, especially since they came in the middle of the election.

9. So what
Thu May 9, 2013, 08:34 PM
May 2013

You are saying is the life of that ambassador is more important than the 60 lives lost at the various embassies listed. I find it hypocritical that the Republicans held no hearings, formed no committees to investigate or showed no outrage over those deaths. Disgusting.

26. Define "important"

Because an ambassador's life IS more important, politically, than lower-ranking diplomats, just as a general's life is more important, tactically, than his lower-ranking soldiers.

Embassies are always potential targets, which is why the ambassador is given, I mean supposed to be given, the highest level of protection.

This is not a moral/spiritual/metaphysical judgment. It's just a political reality.

Now, as for whether Republicans are the biggest flaming hypocrites on earth, I couldn't agree more.

But by the way, in August 1998 there were coordinated bombings at US embassies in East Africa that left hundreds of people dead and thousands wounded. That's far more than 60.

A guy named Osama Bin Laden masterminded the attacks. The president at the time was Bill Clinton.

I hate Republicans, but please let's not pretend that just because some Republicans are devils that all Democrats are angels.

Dead is fucking dead, but some people's lives are of greater political consequence than others, repuke talking points or not.

There were quite a few more than 60 people killed at US embassies in East Africa, during Bill Clinton's presidency. Are they less important than the ones killed under Bush?

Just because most Republicans are lying hypocrites it does not mean all Democrats are perfect angels.

Only Republicans could be stupid/crooked enough to elect someone with a criminal past to be chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee http://mediamatters.org/research/2011/01/11/report-media-ignore-rep-issas-alleged-criminal/174997

It's funny how the “liberal” media has ignored arrests and allegations of auto theft, arson, intimidation, and weapons violations against Republican Benghazi chairman Issa. http://mediamatters.org/research/2011/01/11/report-media-ignore-rep-issas-alleged-criminal/174997

Is any more proof of the extreme media bias in FAVOR OF REPUBLICANS needed?

Or of the idiocy of Republicans in making this guy the chairman of the HOUSE OVERSIGHT AND GOVERNMENT REFORM COMMITTEE, for God's sake!!?
