Obama eyes Gov. Deval Patrick to replace Eric Holder at Justice

By MICHAEL SNEED msneed@suntimes.com May 15, 2013 6:40PM

Tipsville . . .

Sneed is told that Attorney General Eric “Fast and Furious” Holder’s days are numbered.

Sneed hears President Barack Obama, who is this/close to Holder, has set his sights on Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick as a possible replacement “when the heat dies down on the latest hot-button scandals to hit the U.S. Justice Department,” said a top White House source.

Last year, Holder became a hot button over a congressional probe of the sale of government guns to drug cartels.

This time it’s the double whammy of an IRS scandal and the U.S. Justice Department’s seizure of Associated Press reporters’ phone records — which has caused a media uproar.

“The president will wait until the heat dies down — and a little time has passed beyond that — before he does anything to Holder because Holder is a close pal, and that’s a big deal in the White House,” said a top Dem source. “Holder is also a close buddy of Obama’s senior adviser Valerie Jarrett,” the source said. “Obama knows a change has to be made, but he wants Holder to leave with his reputation intact.”

=========================

I'm not inclined to believe this article, especially given that Governor Patrick promised to stay on the job if he were re-elected. News reports in January reported the President offered Gov. Patrick the job but he declined.

Michael Sneed is a local gossip columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. And she's the latest journalist to be steamrolled by Chicago's US attorney, Patrick Fitzgerald—the same prosecutor who sent fallen Times reporter Judy Miller to jail! But Sneed won't have to go to court to try to keep her sources secret, because they're named right in the complaint against corrupt governor Rod Blagojevich. You see, Sneed was allegedly the guv's go-to reporter for planting fake rumors designed to help his scheme to extort money in exchange for Obama's replacement in the Senate. Oh, this one is good.

Sneed also hyped the "Obama cheated with a staffer rumor"

And make no mistake, it's just gossip from a professional, high-paid gossiper.

Thanks GT.

with Many, many others--PBO needs to now and Has needed to "clean house" on damned near Every single "advisor", appointee, agency and dept head--I'll believe this when I see it.

It's thread like this All over, over the years that I Highly doubt PBO has ever been made aware of and I'm guessing his daily demands don't allow him much time to personally peruse and if he's not advised......so, I'm also guessing PBO believes he has had Wide support for a lot of whats going on.
I'm not making excuses, but I do believe one of his main problems with "us" are directly connected to his closest "GOP Leaning" advisors...I'm trying to place "perspective" on reality.

Holder's reputation is in the toilet.

He's done nothing to the Wall Streeters who tanked the economy in 2008.

That's a big deal. Someone broke the law, and they have gotten away with it because they're "too big to fail." Well, we need an Attorney General who enforces the law of the land, because it's bigger than they are.

Cut him loose and get someone in there who can do the job. They need to start with Wall Street, voting rights abuses, and perhaps take a look at the lies Bushco told to start a couple of wars that have cost the country trillions and the lives of over 4,000 troops.

He's not going anywhere, he's doing exactly what he was appointed & confirmed to do - nothing.
