2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumLet me get all this straight re: Lois Learner
1. She is a Bush Appointee
2. She is in charge of the people who (supposedly) targeted the Tea Party.
3. She didn't re-direct those people, but rather fed the story to the Press - she whistle blew on herself
4. Now she's taking the 5th.
Do I have all that right?
Is this an attempt to embarrass Obama that is rapidly blowing up in the face(s) of the plotter(s)?

Dems just aren't that stupid to try such a thing, but Repubs? Yes... that stupid.

(32,006 posts)The RNC and DNC are 527s not 501cs. Donors are public. Donors are also public to 501c3s. They are not public to 501c4s.
Cooley Hurd
(26,877 posts)We don't know WHO this person contributed to. How much $$$ did he kick into 501c4s?
...and why are you defending a Bush appointee??
former9thward
(32,006 posts)He is a Democrat who has contributed to the DNC. We DO know that. Bush appointed many Democrats. Just as Obama has appointed some Republicans. Deal with it.
Cooley Hurd
(26,877 posts)PROVE to me, beyond a measly $250 contribution, that this clown is a Democrat.

Now prove that he is a Republican.
Cooley Hurd
(26,877 posts)...yet the proof you offer is extremely tenuous (a single entry from the FEC).
The onus is still on you, strange person who defends Bush appointees.
former9thward
(32,006 posts)The poster offered zero proof. Reasonable people would infer that someone who contributes to the DNC is either a Democrat or certainly sympathetic to the goals of the DNC. But go on and keep digging.
Cooley Hurd
(26,877 posts)Still no proof that Shulman is a Democrat, other than a one-time 9-year-old contribution. Yet, you are STILL defending a Bush-appointee.
former9thward
(32,006 posts)Or what he did or did not do at the IRS. You said he was a R and offered not a shred of proof. I like accurately maybe you not so much as long as something fits a narrative. BTW I thought the meme was that the IRS was doing their job and should be saluted. If that is the case shouldn't Shulman be defended? Or are you unhappy the tea party was targeted? I wonder what your contribution record is at the FEC....
Cooley Hurd
(26,877 posts)He was appointed by George W Bush. THE MOST political President in my lifetime (and, yes, I remember Nixon - I CAMPAIGNED against him!). Did Bush appoint him because he was a non-partisan voice-of-reason? Oh... sure. (Please prove otherwise - it's STILL your assertion)
As far as Lois Lerner is concerned, do you have the specs on her, besides being a career bureaucrat? When did she start? You DO realize that federal civil service positions (like in the IRS) are appointments, don't you?
former9thward
(32,006 posts)No, civil service is not presidential appointments. Look it up. The president is not involved in civil service. Dig some more.
Cooley Hurd
(26,877 posts)on edit: I used the term "civil service" in my previous post but it was incorrect...

(15,438 posts)Remember when Cheney smugly said, as he was leaving the WH {and yes, he was president, not Duhbya}, that Cons don't have to worry about Obama since he's installed "his people" in strategic places {and I sure do hope President Obama returns the favor when he finishes his second term}?
DA's, 250 Pentagon appointees, IRS appointees, and many others have refused to leave when Cheney and Bush did. But it does give the impression that President Obama is no different than Bush, and that is, I believe, why they decided to stay on as they try to take down this administration.

(36,286 posts)are repeats of each other. What I did find out is that she used to be at FEC - and that the Right Wing is enraged that she didn't find a way to disqualify Obama from being elected! Apparently, she also now has some overview of part of the Affordable Care Act, so that has the Right Wing in a tizzy as well.
Cooley Hurd
(26,877 posts)You're really trying hard to defend them, so you MUST know HER FEC record of contributions.
former9thward
(32,006 posts)Absolutely false. She has been working at the IRS long before Bush. I looked up her name at the FEC and came up with nothing. Since you are so concerned about it go look it up yourself and report back.
Cooley Hurd
(26,877 posts)When did she start w/ the IRS? You are insisting she is NOT a Bush appointee. You must have proof. Please share with us.

Whatever. It's silly to parse this out in order to suggest that she wasn't appointed under Bush admin. FACT: she was appointed by the Bush administration, notorious for politicization of all government. Before that, by Reagan admin.
former9thward
(32,006 posts)The President gets to make two appointments at the IRS. That is all. The rest are career employees who get their jobs through civil service. She was not appointed by anyone.
