Our infrastructure (bridges disintegrating) yet we nation build in other countries?

I agree with funding those countries which are in desperate need like Somalia and Haiti. However, we seem to be still using contractors to use millions to nation build in countries that have oil.

Our bridges and schools are falling apart. Our workers are angry and frustrated. We don't need furloughs. We have thousands of children in need in this country.

What are we going to do about this situation?

... the "shovel ready" projects of the stimulus money was used on hundreds of infrastructure projects. Our city was nearly turned upside down with relaying of sewer lines, just as a single example. Roads, bridges, etc.

It's one thing for infrastructure to disintegrate when it's on its own, just sitting there in the gentle rain.

It's another thing for a big rig to slam into it at cruising speed and have it disintegrate.

When we moved into our house I could have said that a house 4-5 doors down was crumbling and disintegrating. One day it was fine; the next day there was a pile of bricks and part of the roof was sagging.

One has to mention a Ford Ram truck that had a mangled left fender and that the pile of bricks was part of the garage's exterior wall that the driver had crashed into. House at the intersection of two roads that made a T. The driver had too much to drink and couldn't be bothered to turn. Or slow down as he sped down the road. It came as a real surprise to the owner of the house.

A jobs bill could start the rebuilding of our current infrastructure, we need the jobs, more money back in our economy and safer roads to travel on. Every Congressional member needs to look at the roads and bridges to see where work is needed. If we stopped lots of the aid abroad and concentrated on our own for a while it just might result in kick starting pjr economy.
