(6,660 posts)This really means a lot.
Yes, it can really be hell down here. But it's our home, and we are not leaving. It's going to take time; possibly after I leave this life, but we will be blue someday.

(54,277 posts)Texas is not only Louie Gohmert, Rick Perry and Ted Cruz. Texas is also Ann Richards, Molly Ivins and Jim Hightower, the Castro brothers, and so many others.
So it's an uphill battle. So what else is new?

(58,598 posts)It's nice to see popular support for women's issues, especially in states typically not known for it, or at least not often reported on.
Way to go Texans!

A few attention hoarding goons: Perry, Cruz, Gohmert etc have made a caricature of our state. Just like the Tea Party, they are a "fad" and I hope they fade fast!!!

(15,220 posts)I appreciate your post. Sometimes it feels like DU doesn't get the fact that there are MANY of us down here working hard to keep Texas sane (first and foremost) and turn Texas blue. We're gaining thankfully.
In that vein, please take a moment in your busy day today to send good vibes, say a prayer for, acknowledge in whatever way is your custom - Senator Wendy Davis who today will be filibustering the most insane, utterly stupid, rampantly right wing attack on women's rights that I've seen in all of my 54 years on this planet.
May she have the strength to do that which she must for ALL of us!
