I am a Democrat.. and I do not apologize for it

I am an old line Liberal .. . and I do not apologize for it..

I believe in the political machine.. it is what gets people elected .. and I am all about results.. and I do not apologize for it.

I believe in big goverment.. and I do not apologize for it.

I believe in unions.. and fair pay.. it is what made this country great.. but in order for unions to be effective .. you have to buy American.. you have to be willing to support what you espouse..

I believe in the Constitution and when it is wrong.. I believe in changing it.. My Grandmother was not allowed to vote when she turned 21.. sooooo all to all those Constitution waving types..just do not even go there.. because you will lose that fight in a heartbeat..it is a malleable document

Unlike certain republicans.. I will take 80% of my agenda any day of the week and celebrate the hell out of it.. and go after the other 20% later.. I do not toss out the good in favor of the perfect.

I am done with Presidential politics.. I am fried.. but will continue to work to better our state and get the blue back in Iowa.

State politics is where everything is happening right now..The republicans are already in the state frame of mind to push their final agendas.. they have figured out a formula to let us have the Federal branch.. and chop the tree down from the state level.

We will not have an Obama machine next time.. so it is so important to solidify our state party.

2014 is going to be very big in this..

The Democratic Party is the one thing between the Teas (there is no republican party now to speak of) and complete reversal of the Roosevelt movement

I am a Democrat and I do not apologize for that.

Republicans have figured out that they can win the states if they can get those who vote for democrats mad at the president and the party. They used this tactic in 2010, and look what happened. They are doing it again with all kinds of scandals, not to mention a ton of paid trolls that are doing their best to divide democrats on discussion boards like this one.

If people want to stop republicans then as you said, it needs to be done at local and state levels. The laws that have been passed in states where republicans control the government should show us that this is where the fight is. We need to make sure republicans don't take control of any more states, and that we do our best to take back those states that they took control of in 2010. If we can do that, then we can work on making those states that have always been red, turn purple, and maybe even blue. No matter how hard republicans try and change the laws to stop voters from voting, we have to out think them and make sure we can get everyone out to vote.

There is a lot at stake here, and letting the republicans win is not an option!

I cannot believe we are having to re-fight all the battles of the 60's and 70's.. from a womans right to choose to voting righting act of 65. (thanks for nothing supreme court).. but it is all from attacks at the state level.. I was so burned out on politics I had to take a break of sorts.. but things are just too too important to step away now.. I am going back into it on the state level..that is where I am needed now.. and you are needed and everyone is needed..

I have been reading so much crap today on other threads that are calling for people to put their differences with the president to the side and make sure they get out and work to remove the republicans from office so they can't continue on their crusade to destroy this country. I see some of the same kind of post we had here back in 2010 trying to get people to stay home and not vote. The same old BS right wing talking points we heard back then. The only difference now is that there seems to be a whole lot more trolls pushing the crap, along with the same old anti Obama people I have seen here since the primaries back in 2008.

For the life of me I just can't grasp how anyone would think that because they are pissed at the president they can make a "point" by not voting in 2014. I would think that seeing what happened in Wisconsin, Maine, Florida, and other states would make people realize that they need to vote.

I guess the trolls are laughing their ass off every time they see someone say they are going to stay home!

I am a Democrat and not changing my stripes for anyone.. I believe in party politics.. gets things done..I believe in big goverment and what it can do especially in crisis situations like the economic collapse..

One could say that Presidential politics almost don't matter. But I'll still vote against any Repub on the ballot.

Best of luck on winning your state. And thanks for your hard work and dedication to do so.

Yeah, it matters.

And you are correct about Republicans and State Politics. In Iowa as well, and we would be in a hell hole of radical republican "law" had it not been for our Democratic politicians who fought and stopped most every reactionary bill that came down the path.

Old Branstad wants to take credit for our state pension funds being in such good shape.. I think we are 93% funded.. and people have already forgotten the last time he was in office how we had to fight him tooth and nail to keep him from raiding the pension funds.. I swear, I think the internet has contributed to peoples short term memory loss.. like having your address book in your phone..you do not have to remember any addresses anymore.. till God forbid the day you lose your phone.. just a crazy analogy..

I prefer that the government has the tools it needs to keep the peace, but that the people also watch the government like a hawk.

I want all Americans to succeed, including the "99%", starting with ending massive tax loopholes like carried interest. But neither will I scapegoat those who have legitimately earned success.

I believe that elections change policy, not useless protests. And that means communicating to friends, neighbors, canvassing non-confrontationally. You don't change minds by annoying people.

I am very much interested in Presidential politics, and will almost certainly be supporting Hillary Clinton for President.

I have no use for true believers of any stripe. The strength of the Democratic party compared to the GOP, has been based on our ability to keep people who substitute ideology for facts out of positions of leadership. Much to their eternal screed-writing frustration.
