Coming Governmental Shut Down - What Am I Missing?

For at least the last six weeks, every single soul inside the Beltway knew about the October 1st, coming government shut down... So the President spent the better part of ten days, up on a bully pulpit, trying to get us fixated on the notion of attacking Syria... Would that bully pulpit energy energy not have been better spent on revving up American citizens and getting them to help avert the coming shut down?

On the one hand, you have possible retaliation needed for possible Sarin Gas attack. (Although experts are still debating if or if not Syrian rebels or Syrian leader was behind it.)

On the other hand, you have the full scale derailment of American society.

Which matters more to the average person?

And why is it that the Oval Office energy is not about the average American any more?

Given the unpredictability of the governmental shut down, and the fact that no one even knows the ramifications of it, I would hope that the President, (who supposedly is in tight with Jaimie Diman), would in full comprehension of the event then put the considerable weight of the bully pulpit energy out there before the public, on the issue.

Maybe you don't understand what I am saying. To explain it as well as I can, here is a clip from "The Newsroom:"

If I had been President over the last six months, or six weeks, (God help us all, should that day come about!) I think I would have been very tempted to address the nation telling them the damn Republicans were behind the sarin gas attacks, if that is what it takes to avoid this.

He’s been out...Doing his thing the way he does it ..Calm, but getting angrier.. Effective the last couple of days.

But he is winning this battle so far.

By the way Obama might have had a brief relationship with Diman when he first came to office.. Trying to present himself as business friendly..The right wing was portraying him as a Muslim Communist, so this was a push back try... But things with Diman dissipated quickly.

Funny how the Obama Haters work around here..

"But in the wake of a $2 billion trading loss, Dimon’s reputation as a blunder-free Master of the Universe is badly tarnished. And Dimon’s connection to the president, which the JPMorgan CEO now says was never all that strong, seems gone for good. Dimon has joined the loud chorus of Obama’s Wall Street critics, calling himself a “barely Democrat” who is turned off by what he views as the administration’s anti-business rhetoric and pol"

Oh boy, that's fantastic!!!!

What does he win?

The point you are so deftly avoiding is the whole premise of the posting. While he was off playing chess with the Syrians, the gop was bringing down OUR f'in gov't.

It's a matter of focus.

Sorry I pissed on your pom-pom.

No, on second thought, I'm not sorry.

Most think it was brilliant strategy.. But of course you know better...

The last couple of speeches Obama has made have been addressing the issues you are talking about.. I suggest you search for them’’

What exactly would you do if you were in his shoes anyway?. Start screaming about what assholes they are?

The Country as a whole understands very well who is responsible for this.. The House controls the money and it is they alone who will determine the outcome..

Perhaps you would prefer that Obama defunds the AHA? Is that what you feel?

And that crap about Jamie and Obama not caring about the average American...Huh?

What would I do in his shoes?

Perhaps instead of taking my case to the people and try to pass off my responsibility to them,

I would have recognised that these battles with the gop occur very regularly and I might have done some thingsto preclude them.

But then, I never had a cheering squad to pretend that things weren't as they seemed.

Where is the true jobs program? Why did he cavethe last 3 times to this extortion?

Even the most dense person learns fairly quickly that paying a blackmailer just guarantees more blackmail.

As I've said before...might be a geat chess player but really lousy at playing the butwadif.

Perhaps you should search the American Jobs Act of 2011 (H. Doc 112-53) and search for the Legislative History.

Between the House who continually try to impede any kind of solutions the President puts forth, and the idea
that they hate the idea of a successful Black President actually getting credit for anything, they refuse to do anything which might lift this country out of its economic quagmire..

The Senate again used the Filibuster to prevent this bill from passing and even received help from the Blue Dog
Dems. who are spineless crap.

Your solutions are absolutely empty..
.Democrats[edit source
Many Democrats have balked at the bill, siding with the Republicans, especially those facing difficult re-elections in congressional districts where they are hesitant to support unpopular legislation.[50] A majority of the Democrats support individual components of the bill, but are unwilling to commit to the bill in its entirety, despite the White House's disapproval of the weak showing of support. Some Democrats from core Democratic districts oppose the American Jobs Act because it gives more tax breaks, thus contributing more to the federal deficit, which has given Obama more responsibility to sell the plan first to the American public, as he has done on a very prominent, nationwide speaking tour.[51][52][53]
Both moderate and progressive Democrats have expressed concerns about the bill. Joe Manchin, a more moderate-leaning Democrat, has openly voiced his opposition with the administration by arguing against the inclusion of too much spending, given by his remarks on September 29, "The ugly part of that act is $450 billion of spending, after we've spent, spent, spent." On the other side, progressive Democrat Peter DeFazio argued against the inclusion of nearly $250 billion of tax breaks, saying "Half of it is tax cuts, and quite frankly tax cuts don't work."[54][55]

The pin has been out of the hand-grenade since the house failed to raise the limit the last time and our credit rating got cut. This time it will be more a suicide bomber than a couple hand-grenades.

We have come a long ways since the time when the government and our elected "public servants" were accountable to the middle class.
