Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear (D) had a sharp message Thursday for congressional Republicans, including those from his home state, opposed to Obamacare: "get over it."
Writing in an op-ed published in the New York Times, Beshear acknowledged that Kentucky is a red state claiming two prominent Republican members of Congress, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Sen. Rand Paul. But Beshear argued even Republican governors like Arizona's Jan Brewer, Ohio's John Kasich and Michigan's Rick Snyder have been able to accept Obamacare as "a tool for historic change" rather than "a referendum on President Obama."
"So, to those more worried about political power than Kentuckys families, I say, 'Get over it,'" he wrote. "The Affordable Care Act was approved by Congress and sanctioned by the Supreme Court. It is the law of the land."
"Get over it ... and get out of the way so I can help my people."

(3,335 posts)Thanks Gov Beshear. Maybe some of his, will spill over to the Democratic Senator from West Virginia who is too afraid to stand up to the rightwingnuts in his state.
The problem is that most politicians view their elected positions as an entitlement. They forget that they are there as public servants to serve their constituents interests as in "all" their constituents and not just a vocal few. If doing the right thing means that you serve only one term, than so be it. You did what you were sent there to do; to govern, to serve the common good, not to obstruct. If you want to protest, pick up a sign and protest. But don't run for office pretending that you are going there to serve the people when all you are intending to do is serve yourself.
It's just disappointing that many politicians only see the light, when they have one foot in the grave, or are headed out of office.
