2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBoehner - The Big Fail
Failed in his position as Leader of the House. Caved to a gaggle of extremists. Abandoned the possibility of passing a clean budget - a primary, Constitutional House responsibility. He could have brought a bill to the floor. Bailed.
Failed in his position as one of his party's leaders. Caved to a gaggle of extremists. Allowed those extremist elements to disrupt any reasonable political discourse among Repubs, Dems and Independents.
Failed in his position as a member of Congress. Bailed on the bigger role of Congress as a whole. It's become a joke. And a poor joke at that.
Failed the American public. Allowed those extremists to shut down large parts of the Federal government, harming American jobs and the American economy. And the dwindling confidence in our public discourse.
I put a lot of the responsibility for this fiasco squarely in Boehner's court. And, by definition, the failed Republican party.

I haven't ever seen this before. Somewhat of a dangerous precedent. The President and Reid can NOT back down on this!
