"A Bunch of Vindictive Childish Imbeciles"

I know an elderly Irish gentleman who is moderately wealthy and now lives in the Middle East. He rarely visits America, and has somewhat rightward-leaning political sentiments. I don't know him well--he is more of a friend of a friend.

Still I had him on the phone briefly today, and when I mentioned that I was in Washington for three days, he commented on the Republicans and their engineering of the shutdown. He said that he thought Obama was a "fine gentleman, indeed," and that the Congressional Republicans were acting like a "bunch of vindictive childish imbeciles."

Ah, yes, faith and begorrah, the Irish do still come up with some good ones.

I've never been to Dubai, but wherever he is, it's most likely in some airy air-conditioned re-constituted pub with all the Guinness an Irishman's heart could desire.

But drinking a pint in The Gravity Bar itself is more to my liking.

This Spring with my Dad, I think...it will be his Last Hurrah, on me.
