Hillary Clinton Could Win All 50 States Running Against 'Banana Republicans' in 2016

I saw a recent poll suggesting that former first lady, United States senator and secretary of State Hillary Clinton would beat Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in a hypothetic presidential campaign, even in the reddest states.

This made me think of a happy thought for Democrats: it is within the realm of possibility that Clinton would win all 50 states in an epic, historic and realigning mega-landslide against the party that threatens a Republican default, a Republican economic crash and a Republican government shutdown.

Here's why:

Republicans have been accused of waging a war against women, a war against workers and a war against the poor. Republicans have been accused of waging a war against the environment while they deny global warming. We even have Republicans waging a war against the American economy, while some Republicans even deny the deadly economic dangers of a U.S. default.

It gets better for Democrats: Now, Republicans are waging a war against everyone. Veterans and military families face hardship because of the Republican shutdown. Small-business people cannot get loans because of the Republican shutdown. Tourists find national parks closed because of the Republican shutdown. It goes on and on and on, which is why Republican polling numbers have been falling like a snowball down a mountain during an avalanche.

It gets even better for Democrats: Republicans have been accused of waging a war against the 99 percent, which is bad enough, as Mitt Romney learned the hard way. But now, Republicans are even waging a war against the 1 percent.

Think about it: If the debt ceiling is not increased and markets crash, the 1 percent get screwed along with everyone else. And -- this is important -- if the government shutdown continues, consumer confidence and consumer purchasing power go down. Retail sales go down. Sales and earnings and profits of most businesses, large and small, go down. And with the latest GOP scheme for a short term deal, which will continue the sadomasochism in Washington through the Christmas shopping season, the Banana Republicans could ruin the holiday for Mom and Dad, the kids, and businesses across America.

Bill and Hillary Clinton represent better days for the economy, and a Clinton presidency that led to powerful economic growth, prosperity and jobs even while the Banana Republicans tried to impeach him. Hillary Clinton represents to voters the ability to lead, the ability to govern, and the ability to grow the economy. If she runs against the Banana Republicans, who are so unpopular today, she could actually win all 50 states in November 2016. That's a happy prospect indeed, for Democrats.

of those proportions, I think that is way too generous. I work with people who still (even today) are talking about whitewater and Benghazi.

I know they have gone Republican since 1976. No way they vote for Hillary over Ted Cruz. They can run whoever they want and the GOP will get their red states.

First a minority and next a woman, that will make me very proud. Rafeal Ted Cruz will be a strong candidate. In one year he went from nobody to king of the castle from Texas. Why did he drop Rafeal? Just found out today his name is Rafeal Edward "Ted" Cruz. I assumed his name was Edward Cruz, his first name is Rafeal. They do not like Rafeal in Texas? Is it something like Barak HUSSEIN Obama? Weird

If they nominate a nut case, this phrase should remain alive through 2016, and just IMAGINE the campaign posters.

Democratic candidates can use the phrase all they want, and then disavow all the evil (but hilarious) posters that photoshop will make possible.

I can't WAIT for this campaign! We have our candidate, and the Republicans offer "Banana Nut Bread" as their ticket!

"We have our candidate" as a generic statement, not as in any specific candidate. By the way, if you have read ANY of my posts of the last four years, you will have read that I agree with Howard that we need younger blood in there.

A little quick on the trigger today are we? I REALLY hope you don't have access to any loaded firearms, or someone needs to evacuate the area of small children and other civilians.

only in the primary, but in the general election. He is very smart, has money, a political resume of his own, organization, a high likeability rating and a very politically savvy Mexican wife and the Hispanics like her.

Elizabeth Warren or someone equally less known or tested in a national campaign that is going to get down and dirty, is not going to work. Plus, she doesn't want it. Who else can raise a billion dollars...because that's what it's going to take. This is not a time to run a newbie or be a dreamer, IMO. 8 years of Jeb...kiss your social programs goodbye. This is our chance to nudge the country to the Left and maybe we'll get to Center or a little Center Left. Maybe move closer to single payer.

We have mid terms and a primary. It's not a coronation or "her turn" either...that's dumb. But she sure has a ton of experience, the organization, fund-raising and maybe best of all for me, she, Bill and Chelsea make the Republicans see red and go dipsy. They are pros.

Personally, I'm far to the left so I'm used to not getting everything I want, but I'll vote for the one that's the closest.
