Hillary Clinton starting new project to empower women

Clinton starting new project to empower women

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Hillary Rodham Clinton announced a new initiative Friday called "No Ceilings" to empower women and children around the globe. The project could serve as the basis of a recurring campaign theme if she decides to run for president again.

The former New York senator said in the U.S., many women are the primary financial providers for their families and some are living shorter lives than their mothers. She cited the challenges of unemployment and economic stress in communities "hollowed out by inequality and poverty."

"Women trying to build a life and a family in such places don't just face ceilings. It's as if the floor has collapsed beneath them," Clinton said.

The title of the project, "No Ceilings," was reminiscent of her endorsement of Barack Obama after their lengthy Democratic presidential primary contest in 2008. Clinton said in the June 2008 speech that while she didn't break the ultimate glass ceiling of reaching the White House, "it's got about 18 million cracks in it," a nod to the number of people who voted for her.

While a campaign to help women achieve equality in business and elsewhere, one can hope this is not an invention that someone of celebrity has started for their own benefits. The Clinton Foundation has been around for years and it would look bad if Bill had not started such a thing years ago and it takes Hillary to prompt its initiation. Is this a campaign vehicle?

Is this her way of energizing women to support her candidacy through the performance and notice of good acts? Is this her Organizing for America to to get her agenda passed and I am sure heragenda at this point might include her election?

As a grass roots organizer I see nothing wrong with celebrities and or politicians using celebrity to build organizations to accomplish a good purpose but I do worry that celebrities and politicians may see increasing their own celebrity or image as the reason for the organization. Can anyone here telll me which it is in this case?

Hillary Clinton: So you are talking about the outsourcing of US jobs to India. We know it's been going on for many years now and it's part of our economic relationship with India and I think there are advantages with it that have certainly benefitted many parts of our country and there are disadvantages that go to the need to improve the job fields of our own people and create a better economic environment so it's like anything like the pluses and minuses.

The "advantages" go to corporate executives and shareholders, NOT the working stiffs.

Perhaps HRC can tell us what laid off female engineers/IT people are supposed to train for after their jobs are shipped to India?

And then there's her support for an increase in h-1b visas:

How many females have lost their jobs because they were replaced by someone holding an h-1b visa?

And then there's her leading part in drafting the TPP:

Hillary doesn't care about jobs for females in the US.

Cue the "hater/basher" posts....countdown...3...2...1
