2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI am seeing a lot of Warren will defeat Clinton ops
And if Elizabeth Warren decides she really does want to run.. she might.. then again she might not. If the primaries were held today, I would most definitely vote Hillary Clinton. But if Elizabeth Warren took the election and was the canidate.. I would most happily vote for her.
But the one thing I will NOT do.. is let the republicans get away with a Benghazi smear campaign to try and influence who I vote for.
They may have Secretary Clinton in their sights right now.. but trust me on this.. they have Senator Warren black ops warming up to smear her also.
Cheer and promote your canidate and all that they can possibly achieve. We all need that information.
So to all who nay nay one possibility over the other, do it with respect. DO NOT get played.
But better yet.. let us concentrate on one election at a time, and not lose sight of 2014.
Those state houses and congress seats will impact the efficacy of the next President like non other.
I am all about 2014.. plenty of time for the 2016 campaigns..

(22,874 posts)The GOP ran a bloody awful smear campaign against her when she ran again Scott Brown. Don't think for a second they are not working on something more against her.. as they continue to smear Hillary.

(4,795 posts)You sound upset like this is something to be worried about, which is a strange thing to worry about when the inevitable candidate is, well, inevitable.

(22,874 posts)piss in the water as we sometimes say locally.. Because if Warren won.. piece of cake.. I would vote for her.. If Biden decides he wants another toss at it.. and he won.. guess what I would gladly vote for him in the general.

(20,277 posts)That no criticism of Clinton is allowed? The President gets criticized here (fairly and unfairly) every day. Why should Clinton be immune?

(40,416 posts)So there's that.
Of course, there are many who still hold out for her.
My advice wait a year or so, preferably to late 2015. Then, let's have this conversation. It is silly and utterly foolish until then.
And it detracts from the very important discussions on what we need to do to win back the House and secure our lead in the Senate in 2014.

(22,000 posts)People are getting way ahead of themselves pushing the idea that we HAVE to choose a candidate NOW. That reeks of desperation.
It seems like most are using Chris Christie as the excuse for blowing their trumpets on picking a candidate now. I have never in my life heard of a party using a potential candidate in the other party as a reason for having to choose a candidate three years from the election.

(1,693 posts)Obama had black voters with a vice grip in 2008. They will gravitate to Hillary next time. No way Warren will win Latinos and blacks. She'll do well with the elite liberals, highly educated, high income. That's not enough to win a nomination though.

(24,096 posts)and not because he was black. Let's get that straight.
Just like Hillary will not get the women's vote just because she is a woman. She has to be the better candidate. And She Wasn't/Ain't.

(13,877 posts)She is great where she is. No one can do what she is doing. Quitting her jobs...Senator and Representative of the Consumer, is not an option for Ms. Warren. Give it up already.
It is because the Republicans are in full steam ahead against Hillary that we must break out of our dire proclamations of the Evils of Three Years of Campaigning and Fundraising. We can do both 2014 and 2016 at the same time...really we can. Most of us, especially the online warriors, are capable of multi-tasking.
Christie has started. Iowa is being visited. PACs are forming. Corporate donations are being sought (by both parties) because they are needed for early political consultants and the organizations needed to bring in a billion dollars and win a general election. This doesn't happen in a candidate vacuum just for the heck of it.
Face it, we're "stuck" with Hillary.

(22,000 posts)If we don't get back the House and hold the Senate nothing will get done during Obama's last two years. Nothing. It will be more of the same.
I doubt that many people will disagree with me on this point.
There are going to be many races that will be close and down to the wire. We need to win them.

(22,000 posts)I'm not oppose to either person as a candidate. What I'm advocating is that we see who runs instead of letting the GOP scare us into nominating who they want.
