Alison Lundergan Grimes Tied With Mitch McConnell In Senate Race: Poll

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (D) are running neck and neck in the 2014 Senate race, according to a new poll from the liberal group MoveOn.org.

The survey, conducted by the Democratic firm Lake Research for MoveOn, found McConnell and Grimes each attracting 37 percent of likely Kentucky voters in the general election. McConnell had a commanding 50 percent to 17 percent lead over his primary challenger, tea party-aligned businessman Matt Bevin.

The survey also found that 52 percent of the Kentucky voters rated McConnell unfavorably and 42 percent rated him favorably. Nationally, about 49 percent of Americans view him unfavorably -- a fact that Grimes' campaign hopes will give her a boost.

W/Governor Beshear's good work setting up health care exchanges in KY and Mitch's
24/7 work trying to kill the A.C.A. he is going to be in a world of hurt even with many
Kentuckians who might be republican or independents.

********
BTW a Senate w/Tammy Baldwin, Elizabeth Warren, and maybe some A.L.G. would
be awesome ...... Lindsey Graham would be on his fainting couch all the time.

But he's not a threat to her. I can't even recall the guy's name - a professor from U. of Louisville is all that I can remember. Ed Marksberry was running against her but dropped out and is running as an Independent instead. I actually really like what I've heard from Marksberry but he doesn't have the support to win. I'm hoping he drops out before the general so he doesn't take votes from Grimes.

McConnell, on the other hand, has a tea party challenger - Matt Bevin. I don't think he stands any chance of beating McConnell, but I do hope that he is a thorn in his side right up to the bitter end.

Kentucky's enrollment numbers have been among the best and its healthcare exchange has been the smoothest running of all the State exchanges. So, Grimes can actually slam McConnell for his efforts to take away healthcare coverage from thousands of Kentuckians. Also, there probably is not a huge population of affluent healthy individuals whose individual health plans were threatened with cancellation unlike California.

Here it comes...the polls, the polls. It's nice news, I suppose; but it's worthless to bank on this early in the game. It would be a real blessing to be rid of mcConnell; but we'd just be moving him from Congress to the fox-nonsense line-up.
