"This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope"ELIAS ISQUITH
Rush Limbaugh wanted to like the Pope. He really did. But then the pope had to go and blow it all by releasing a long apostolic exhortation that lambastes free-market capitalism as a new tyranny. Now Limbaugh is very disappointed with the pope. Bad move, pope!
After a long set-up, during which Limbaugh says he thought he liked the new pope and says hes previously considered becoming a Catholic, Limbaugh gets into his befuddlement with the popes denouncement of unfettered capitalism.
If it werent for capitalism, I dont know where the Catholic Church would be, Limbaugh haltingly begins. I gotta be very careful, he then tells himself. I have been numerous times to the Vatican. It wouldnt exist without tons of money.
But regardless, what this is somebody has either written this for him or gotten to him. This is just pure Marxism coming out of the mouth of the pope, Limbaugh concludes.

(31,849 posts)I wonder if anyone is really thinking about what this clown is saying? I'm sure it strikes different folks differently; but, as a Black man, I immediately made a "Weren't Catholics a big target for the klan?" connection. I wonder who would bet/trade offending a couple 100 million Catholics to feed a couple 1,000 idiots?
Then, as someone that has actually READ the Bible, I thought ... rush needs to be careful ... his drawing his audience's attention to this Pope might just lead them to actually read the Bible and notice how closely what this Pope is saying tracks with what the Bible has Jesus saying.
Then ... I slapped myself because rush's audience will NEVER acutally read the Bible ... what rush says it says is good enough.

(205 posts)It's amazing no matter what as liberals we are called communists, marxists, or anarchists, yet the single most misused terms in the conservative blogosphere to describe us are 'fascist' and or 'nazi'. Right-wing politics embody the very definition of 'fascist' thinking and behavior, but definitions are all to often lost on them. It's like i keep telling them... 1984 is about about how they think and how they are acting, and what they chose to believe as preached to them by Limbaugh's "ministry of truth".

(18,624 posts)Limbaugh is shocked...shocked... that the Pontiff thinks unbridled greed is immoral.
And I'm shocked that anyone who believes in a higher authority that may one day pass judgment on them listens to this disgusting pus-bag.

(2,529 posts)to piss off. And I love the beauty of the conservatives Catholics themselves, caught up in the maelstrom of a pope that knocks down their most sacred cow institutions. I'd especially like it if Francis starts in on the veracity of evolution and man-made climate change. I'd love to see that insipid little Fox News Catholic priest contributor, Father Jonathan Morris, hung out to dry after his scoffing anti-science remarks.
