http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303997604579242153546789092Liberal Democrats try to silence two of our op-ed writers.
Remember when Bill Clinton was twice elected President as a "New Democrat" who wanted to get along with people in the private economy? Nowadays even writing in favor of ideas that Mr. Clinton supported can get you branded a heretic and banished from impolite liberal society.
Witness the political tempest that blew up in response to the December 3 op-ed we published by Democrats Jon Cowan and Jim Kessler of the Third Way think tank. The former aides to Andrew Cuomo and Chuck Schumer, respectively, would be considered liberals in most places outside of the Harvard faculty lounge. But the campus and union left that increasingly controls the Democratic Party has launched a campaign to purge them for their deviation from progressive dogma.

(14,255 posts)What complete and utter tripe and bullshit.
Third Way and Wall Street control the Democratic Party.
People are realising that Clinton's policies were more corporate than liberal.
The WSJ and Third Way peeps are starting to get mighty discomfited about the awakening of ACTUAL liberals. Maybe they should get their asses out of the Harvard faculty lounge.
Was just thinking about how strange it is that I am being directed to luv and support Hillary, when i don't know where she really stands on Social Security, Medicare, job creation, food stamps, infrastructure, etc. All I know for sure is how she stands on the TPP - she helped write it. Not that I believe much, if anything, that a Third Way candidate says when campaigning.
Senator Warren has not been afraid of debating anything. Or Bernie Sanders or Alan Grayson, either.
And calling out a couple of WSJ op-ed writers is not trying to silence them. Sheesh, assholes, if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. The third way is just pissed cuz they're getting called on their bullshit & people are starting to listen.
Off to make a couple of contributions to some liberal dems.

(23,730 posts)wave: in 2006-8 the talk was all "with the House Dem, now the left is gonna start the purges--the question is, will it be a Vorkuta, or a BELŻEC??!!!!111" as they purged CT, AR, CO, PA, McKinney (and now Kucinich, Grayson, and NJ)
so for 2009-10 party discipline swung rightwards
