CATHERINE THOMPSON DECEMBER 23, 2013, 8:44 AM EST
A state lawmaker redefined what it is to be a poor sport Sunday after he called Arizona a "racist wasteland" for deafeating his home football team.
Washington state Rep. Joe Fitzgibbon (D) tweeted the comment Sunday night after the Seattle Seahawks lost to the Arizona Cardinals.
"Losing a football game sucks," Fitzgibbon wrote in the now-deleted tweet, according to the Associated Press. "Losing to a desert racist wasteland sucks a lot."
Fitzgibbon later tweeted an apology, although he was not quite so repentant in an interview with the AP. "If folks are going to take that too seriously, then I'm sorry about that," Fitzgibbon told the AP.

(22,000 posts)The same with Eastern Oregon. Thankfully in both cases more people live in the western portion of the states.

We're better than that. We're Washingtonians.

(10,893 posts)It's just a game. The Seahawks are on the verge of winning the NFC West and homefield advantage, and this guy's complaining about one measly loss? Shit, I wish my Raiders were in that position. Maybe he was drunk-tweeting or something.
