Jon Stewart Thinks Christie's Bridge Scandal Is Probably Giving Paul Ryan A Boner

TOM KLUDT – JANUARY 9, 2014, 8:54 AM EST

Democrats are understandably trying to extract as much political gain out of the documents tying a top Chris Christie aide to lane closures on the George Washington Bridge. But you know who else was probably excited about the latest development? Republicans eyeing a White House bid in 2016.

"Did probable presidential favorite Chris Christie personally order this traffic hit? I don't know," Jon Stewart said Wednesday. "But I do know one thing about the effects of this burgeoning scandal. You can probably now see Paul Ryan's boner from space."

Stewart then aped a New Jersey-style tough guy, as he always does when discussing a story involving his home state.

The likes of Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio paid Christie some passive-aggressive compliments after his resounding re-election last year, but the governor's potential GOP rivals have thus far been silent on the bridge scandal. Not even Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who's had it out for Christie for a while, has exploited the matter. At least not yet.
