I hope Christie hangs in there..

Because of all his woes, Christie’s only hope is to take on the persona of a Tea Bagger..

His anger and self hatred (my opinion) will manifest itself as Tea Bagger’s hate Rhetoric. They are the only ones who will back him now.

Lots of possibilities here.. I would like to see this story linger as long as possible hopefully into both election cycles.. All types of Shit on Christie will be plummeting into American Politics and I think that is good for us..

A quick exit by Christie would be a great thing to watch.. but it gives plenty of time for a Centrist Repub. candidate to develop..

Except he won't go full Teabagger - more $ from "establishment" finance if he doesn't IMO.

I understand that neither of these guys are Centrists by our standards..but the pickings will be tough for the Republicans to find one who truly represents the middle of the current insane Republican Party.. Only a Centrist could defeat Hillary..

Romney ran as a severe conservative and barely won. The days of Dole and McCain are over.

Heck, Paul Ryan is considered a RINO by a lot of the base.

Who in the Republican Party can best challenge Hillary...Huntsman?

If McCain wasn’t such an asshole? Christie was their hope..

Why would he get more in 2016?

In my opinion, their best realistic hope is someone like Scott Walker, maybe Paul Ryan, who can realistically win a primary and then not be an embarrassment in a general election.

In other words, pretty hopeless.

And make it work... Look at Palin...They are desperate for anyone and have the means to turn them into a viable candidate.. I say this knowing that we are talking about smart corporatists and a real dumbed down Fox electorate..

13. If they're not severely conservative enough

The "conservative challenger" type will circle around them and drag them down.

Unless they pretend to be severely conservative, then they'll get destroyed in the general.

Either way, it's lose-lose for the GOP.

The best would be if both Rand Paul and Ted Cruz ran, because both of them are much more articulate attackers than the likes of Santorum, Bachmann, and Ron Paul.

candidates. Maybe someone new will step up, but the republican party is too enmeshed in unreality, nastiness, racism and sexism to come up with anyone decent.

I don't even think I know what a centrist republican candidate would be like...
