2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumPrimary Day In Illinois
The leader in the Republican Primary field for governor is Bruce Rauner: A self proclaim "businessman", who has spend many millions of his own money promoting ideas such as "Right to Work" in cheesy TV ads that we are all sick of. The man makes Scott Walker (Wis) look like FDR! I have talked to several fellow Democratic teachers who are terrified about losing their pensions (remember we don't pay a dime into Social Security) and in DROVES they are taking Republican ballots and voting for a moderate Republican State Senator named Kirk Dillard.
Will the great state of Illinois reject an extremist, right wing, anti-worker candidate tonight or will we show that ignorance on the issues and vague promises will carry the day? Stay tuned!

(18,402 posts)We walked over to our (new) polling place (sad not to be able to go to our old one, at the IBEW union hall) around 12:30 pm. When we fed our ballots into the machine we were only the 15th and 16th persons to vote that day in the entire precinct!
No, I did not take a Republican ballot. There were a couple of judicial races I wanted to vote in.
ON EDIT: Whoever wins the Republican primary, we all have to get out and really do some groundwork like never before for Pat Quinn this fall. I know how "unpopular" he is, but I actually really like the guy. Minimally, he's the first governor--Republican or Democrat--we've had in Illinois who hasn't gone to prison!

(4,757 posts)He panders to the idiots in the republican party, it will be Rauner and Quine, with Q winning handily this fall.
Rauner is an easy target with tons of baggage. There are groups following him around filming everything he says and does and he is a baffoon so he is giving them tons of materials.
