essentially makes us a theocracy, doesn't it? I've always been surprised that when we talk about passing laws against abortion, marriage equality, and other things that are based on "religious beliefs", nobody (at least the politicians) ever really brings up the point that by adopting certain laws and policies based on religious beliefs of one group or another, their views are being forced on the rest of us and we are being deprived of OUR religious freedom (or at least freedom from religion).
