The only Republican from TN that I have ever really admired.
RIP Howard Baker, you were a statesman. The time of Chief of Staff for Reagan bothered me, but I know that your heart was always for the good of the country. There is no Republican Senator currently in office who has even the right to speak your name. They are not Senators, they do not govern.

(10,650 posts)1. You were duped.
Baker was coordinating with the Nixon White House all through the Watergate hearings--trying to protect Nixon. His heart wasn't always for the good of the country. Not even close.

I might require a little evidence.

Baker fooled a lot of people. Not just on Watergate either.
