Evangelical leaders attacked presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney's values, arguing they are inconsistent with the values of people of faith, on a conference call organized by the Democratic National Committee today.
Listing tenets like "love thy neighbor," and values like "having dignity, respect and regard for others," that he said President Barack Obama embodies in his work, Chicago Pastor J.R. Kerr told reporters, "Gov. Romneys policies, on the other hand, directly contrast with those values."
Romney's pledge to repeal health care reform and his opposition to same sex marriage were cited as positions that are out of sync with the faith community.

Asked whether they were making an attack on the values or practice of Romney's faith, DNC Faith Outreach Director Reverend Derrick Harkins said
"This has nothing to do with his faith."
"It's about his values. His values come from Mitt Romney, they dont come from his or anyone elses faith," he added.
Romney's campaign has been sensitive to any attacks on his faith, as he stands to be the first Mormon president if elected. A spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the DNC call.
