A good number of Democrats will not approve.

I guess the bigger question is the black mark on his legacy... perhaps that can be assured by naming it the Barack Obama Offshore Oil-drilling Preserve. Maybe a REAL Democrat in House or Senate will propose such a Bill as a message we don't approve.

and his other corporate policies, so one more won't do much to dent it. What I find interesting is that since his winter proclamation that he was worried about the democrats' meh attitude, he has gone completely corporate. Hoping for a republican congress?

and are doing their best to destroy him. And this has been going on for 5+ years! What's he
really hoping for? Whatever it is, the Conservatives won't let him have it. And they'll keep on
doing whatever they can to frustrate him.

This is an extraordinarily strange and odd type of relationship. Looks kind of sadomasochistic.
And both sides keep going back for more.

But it was clear from his first day in office that he had no intention of enacting the radical change that 70 million people voted for in Nov 2008. He could have absolutely decimated the GOP in his first two years. He should have opened up hearings into the run-up to the Iraq War, pardoned Don Siegelman and had the DoJ get to the bottom of that whole mess, dug into the Bush DoJ political firings, passed Medicare For All...we would have been free of the Republicans for at least 25 years. But instead he deliberately brought them back to life.

...as well as my personal experience in politics going back decades. The only place where the numbers are higher are where there's a directly attributable negative outcome (e.g. fracking in NY); the generic risks of offshore oil drilling aren't going to resonate.

the people on this planet who have any understanding of their warnings are for severely
decreasing our use of Carbon-producing fuels, and just hope that it's not too late. But
Big Oil, of course, doesn't give a damn. And their lies are still fooling a big fraction of
our population.

However, there is some hope. In spite of Big Oil's efforts to stop them, more and more
people here are becoming interested in fuelless energy sources, such as solar, tidal, wind...
I read that Germany is doing the most to switch over to fuelless energy. Even China, the
great coal consumer, is making efforts at switching over.

no Big Oil. The main point is, will sufficient change be made BEFORE we've reached the
point of no return? If not, there will be disaster in the coastal areas all around the world,
in addition to the climate change....... I feel sorry for the young people who will have to
experience this.

She supported marriage equality before he came around, for example. Though I said that half in jest, since I know there's no chance she's running (I was thinking back to the Governor Wallaces, actually ), I've always liked Michelle tremendously, think she has some great ideas, intelligence and just plain common sense. And while it's said the president's popularity has taken a dip, hers never has. I think she'd be great in elective office.
