WTF Justice Department?

Last edited Sun Sep 21, 2014, 10:33 PM - Edit history (2)

So I was researching about the '88' counts brought against the Koch brothers in 2000 for releasing tons of lukemia causing benzene into waste water. I was curious so I typed...

"Koch Benzene" into google which gave me the following link:
http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2000/September/573enrd.htm

Page could not be found... That's odd... OK, so I went to Archive.org and found this:

https://web.archive.org/web/20130714003440/http://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/2000/September/573enrd.htm

Is this the justice department going out of their way to try to hide this? Why the hell remove it?
Or did I just miss something like a relocation of the page?

Also note that after Bush became president, all these charges were dropped and they settled for the mere $20mil. They were being fined for $350mil, but I guess all those people they got sick were too poor to matter to any of these delusional idiots.

Anyone have a clue why this page would be missing all of a sudden? Maybe because of the elections coming up?

Edit:

Upon further investigation, almost all court rulings or charges during 2000 and prior have been removed and are no longer being listed as available on the DOJ website. The results are listed in the search results via the justice.gov website, but are no longer valid links. I guess they decided to clean house of old docs. They are all producing 'page not found' results.

I searched the archives of the justice.gov website and have discovered other pages dated 2000 and prior do resolve the case history, however the koch benzene documents are not available in the archives on the website

OK I went on Justice.gov and searched locally on the site for "Koch Benzene" and got 2 pages of results. All results are bringing me to "page not found"... Seems like someone is trying to hide this especially after the huge protest today... Hell... That's freaking crazy...

I'm referring to the search on justice.gov about this particular topic... nearly all links on their site involving the word 'koch' when clicked on are resolving in a page not found, while these results were all available less than 1 month prior... of course 'koch' (i'm not using quotations, just putting it in those to clarify what i searched for) turns up all kinds of other results... i am specifically searching for the benzene lawsuit findings and coming up completely empty handed via the justice.gov website... all links point to nowhere in regards to these charges

Yeah, they appear to be having a lot of problems with their website.... Just clicking around to different sections of the archive gets 404 errors too. Probably some kind of update went wrong.

The site itself was fine for me when I posted this and the "page not found" errors were local ones...

If you go to any links that go do documents in their archive site, they get a 404 error. For example, browse to press releases from 2000 -> 404. It was apparently working last time google crawled the site, which given that it is .gov was probably very recently, so they're presumably just having a temporary issue.
