Apparently, We're all totally fucked.

I know this because every email or mailer I get for the Democratic Party says so. The last one was titled something like "Unmitigated Disaster" and the opening line was "We just can't catch a break!"

I don't know what the rest of the email said because I deleted it immediately.

Who the hell decided that this year we'd try to motivate voters by telling everyone how much things suck and how hopeless things are.

Shit hell damn, but if fear were my primary motivator, I'd be a republican.

I delete them.

I understand the Pete Petersons, Sheldon Adlesons and Koch Brothers are financially propping up the American Taliba er... Republican Party and that Dems - with only us piss-poor, struggling and/or unemployed people to support them mostly, but you can't squeeze blood out of a rock or a turnip.

The bottom line is: WE. CANNOT. COMPETE. WITH. $400 MILLION. FROM. KOCHS. TO. BUY. 44,OOO ADS. EVERY. ELECTION. SEASON. (and that doesn't take into account Adelson, Peterson and the rest of the rich bastards and corprats buying themselves their favorite diabolical shithead politician to help them do their dirty deeds).

We just CAN'T.

So. The solution is for DEMOCRATIC politicians and DEMOCRATIC VOTERS to get their asses busy and make it a #1 priority to OVERTURN CU and RESTORE the goddamned VRA or something that does the same thing the VRA does. Until that happens (at the very least) - there's nothing else we can do but give our measely few bucks and VOTE VOTE VOTE.

That's it.

But I never miss an election. Always vote and always study the issues. I always encourage everyone I know to vote. And yes we can never compete with big money. I don't even think we should try.

are way, way more of us than them. Almost 66 million people voted for Obama in 2012, and many millions more don't like what the Kochs and their ilk are up to either. If we averaged $10 apiece total... Just until we get big money OUT of elections entirely, of course.

Since we're retired on a tight income, last year DH and I set up a couple of auto-pay $10 monthly dribbles, and these e-mail pleas have gotten a handful of $3 heres and $3 theres to tight races. We also auto-donate a little dribble to a group working on comprehensive campaign reform. Painless done this way, but it's added up to more than we could just write a check for.

If the Rethugs take the Senate and we fail to gain key governorships it will be because, like in 2010, too many Democrats didn't feel the need to vote in a midterm election.

Your $3 alone may not seem like much, but small donations from a great number of people adds up very quickly and can be used in get-out-the-vote efforts in states with key Senate races..

We CANNOT let 2010 happen again!! GET OUT AND VOTE IN 2014!!

This is ridiculous. From some of them:

"Marlene, according to our records, you haven't made an online donation in 2014 to support Ann’s Arizona campaign."

"kiss all hope goodbye"

"we're PLEADING with you marlene"

I don't even live in Arizona. It's bad enough our congress has been turned into full time fundraisers, but now my inbox is filled with apocalyptic guilt mail. It is the email equivalent of clinging to my leg as I'm trying to walk out of the room.

It used to be that's the name they called the slow news season when, evidently, there would be a rash of UFO sightings.

I'm already in the process of withdrawing from the inevitable Presidential election campaigning that will start the day after the new Congress is elected this November. Hell! Some people are trying very hard to start it now, but it can only start when the first person running for President announces it.

It promises to be the craziest ever. Idiocracy will be King in both parties.
