(30,439 posts)Their polling methodology was all screwed up. It was almost as bad as Rasmussen's.

(413 posts)regarding the improving views of the economy, I have to think it is the lower gas prices and a "stable" employment situation. Ironically, we have the oil speculators to thank for this one. They always overreact bidding prices up or down.

I guess I have always thought they were equal. But looking at these numbers, there must be more Dems.
He's got most of the repukes; O has most of the dems, and Indies support Romney by an edge.
So, given that split of the pie, how can O be leading by 7?

(11,532 posts)Misinformation, poll tax (excuse me - voter ID) laws, etc. have been effective enough over the years to keep them in the game.

(6,716 posts)When they "allow" the poll numbers to rise again, they'll say that Mitt is starting to connect with voters, that he's "coming back", etc. OR they want Dems to feel comfortable so the turnout will be low. I don't trust this ONE BIT!
We always have to work like we're 10 points down

(775 posts)Polls will say different things. Some are reliable. Some are not. The important thing is to educate voters on the issues, get voters registered, and help them get to the polls. Do we even know who takes these polls?

(34,857 posts)It cuts both ways. If you have a poll that shows one candidate leading by a solid margin (and I think 7 would be considered solid), it could depress the turnout for the candidate trailing. Voter turnout going south because of polls isn't exclusive to just the candidate ahead in the polls. While we should always never get complacent, dismissing polls, not trust polls, instills this idea into the voter that it ultimately doesn't matter. I don't like that.
Elections are often about perception. If the perception out there is that Romney is a loser, he will be a loser.

(840 posts)We have to look at State polling and Obama is still doing well in most swing states. It's going to be close but I believe Obama will be re-elected. I will continue to work everyday to make that happen and I hope you all will too.

(797 posts)I cant believe its even close,Obama is doing his best to restore America's middle class to its former glory fighting an obstructionist opposition of wealthy republicans all the way, their designated leader Romney is a wishy washy flip flopper who if elected is so obviously going to rubber stamp everything his backers ask him to leaving the average American fully wedged under the bus.
If people wake up it should be a landslide for Obama in this upcoming election and another Democrat will win in the next election as well.
