would be all for it, if she should replace Reid -- although this would be out of the question at
the present time, I suppose. The middle-of-the-roaders have had a long time to prove
themselves, and they have failed. It's high time for a change.

(56,582 posts)Senate leadership isn't really about having good policy ideas; it's about soothing ruffled egos and assigning fundraising responsibilities. Is there something about her that makes people think she'd be good at that?

(7,018 posts)and why she is for or against it. She isn't afraid of speaking out against the power
structure (the big banks, for instance) which most politicians of either side avoid doing.
She has the great asset of being able to draw people to her points of view.
The proof of this lies in the fact that the numbers of Americans who feel that they see
eye to eye with her on what she stands for. Her honesty, sincerity and integrity show
through. So does her intelligence and willingness to work for the benefit of all Americans,
not just the few big rich corporations. She owes no political debts. She won her
senatorial race mainly with having raised money from the grass-roots (the largest amount
in any senate race thus far) and not from the corporations.
She was a Republican in the past, yes, but has changed her mind when she saw how
the Republicans had changed over the years to what they have become today. Some see
this as something negative. Many don't. I see this as an asset. She is able to face reality,
and make appropriate changes when that reality has changed.
I've seen her both being both tough as well as gentle and diplomatic, and very appropriately,
according to what was required for that particular situation.
People are drawn to her because she inspires trust. She is a leader.

Think about it ... EW enjoyed a great deal of support in progressive circles; while supporting all of the initiatives that progressives castigate this President for holding.
Warren ... taking a leadership position means you will soon join the ranks of the mythical progressives' fallen heroes ... when income inequality isn't fixed the day after tomorrow.

(2,571 posts)There's only four major ones, and Reid and Durbin aren't stepping down. Murray or Schumer's?

(26,714 posts)Here's what I just found (looks like a new position tailored for her):
The expected title will be strategic policy adviser to the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, according to a source familiar with the talks.
In the new position, Warren is expected to serve as a go-between to liberal groups to ensure their voice is part of the leaderships private deliberations, a source said. She would be part of the messaging and policy team.

pretty much ignored so far.
