2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTasty-fresh new poll, coming thru! -- ABC/WashPost, General Election -- Clinton, Clinton, Clinton!
Hillary dominates:
against Huckabee - 56/39
Romney - 55/40
Paul - 54/41
Bush - 54/41
Christie - 53/40
Here's some key quotes from the poll release:
"... registered voters by a 13 point margin say the fact that Clinton would be the first female president makes them more likely rather than less likely to support her. Her husband having served as president is another net positive, by an 8 point margin. Those results sound in contrast to Bush and Romney's backgrounds..."
"she's stronger in her base" (than the Republicans are)
-- backed by 9 in 10 registered Democrats
-- backed by 8 in 10 liberals
-- backed by 6 in 10 moderates
"as with Barack Obama, the recovery helps Clinton"
"Clinton has a strong advantage among those who see income inequality as a major problem"

I can't avoid thinking that from victory unto victory her armies she shall lead, till every foe is vanquished and Hill is Prez indeed!

(9,148 posts)AND she did it in high heels
While the White n Right wing told her to shut up, that her place as First Lady was a silent & submissive one, for her attempt at speaking out & promoting of Public Health Care.
I hope she took names.
You Go Hillary Girl.

(1,596 posts)and that is why she made up that Bosnian story.
I mean, don't we all make shit like that up when we get tired. Why, just the other day, when I was really tired, and sort of old too, I was telling my story about when I went to Las Vegas and there were black helicopters hovering over my hotel with semi automatics taking shots at me. My husband and son sent me out on the balcony to check out what was going on seeing as it was too dangerous for them to do that. heh heh heh. So I ducked down, left, right, did a ninja roll or two, grabbed the potted plant and hucked it at the chopper blades and saved myself and all of humankind, plus Ireland.

(1,033 posts)I cried in 2008 when we elected a President who was a minority, rather than an "old white dude" (and I am an old white dude). Both my sons were young then (8 and 11) so I knew it would seem "normal" to them, which was great. Now they will be 16 and 19 and we seem to have a pretty good chance of having the first female President. I think it's just awesome. There will be policy debates and disagreements among us Democrats, and that is expected, normal, and frankly, healthy. But, big picture, having a female President is a big deal to me. It won't hurt if we get the Senate back too, and continue this early wave of progressive policy, so my two son's can have a viable future.

(32,886 posts)Polls are always significant. Does it mean for sure she wins the white house or even the nomination?
No.
But it is still a big deal.

(31,849 posts)besides polling merely "confirm, not inform" ...
(The above are actual DUer responses to positive HRC polling results ... who then, in another, unrelated thread, cited to polling results to support his/her claim) ...
Whether DU wishes to acknowledge it or not ... at this point, DU is really, really, disconnected from the American electorate, particularly, that segment that self-identifies as "Democrats" and/or "Liberal."
Relatedly, I find it interesting that HRC's support is lowest among (self-identifying) "Moderates", the cohort that, in any universe beyond DU, would be described as "Centrist."
