It isn't economically feasible to extract the oil, pipe it halfway across the continent, refine it and ship it to China at current world prices.

So what the Senate republicans and their nine asshole buddy Democrats did is meaningless. The president will veto it anyway.

Having said all that, I'm against it. FWIW.

Because, I always consider FOOD and WATER for my body to be more important than GAS and OIL for my car.

Pro: it is shorter than the existing pipeline, and would also mean less oil going by train since it's higher capacity

Con: the current path, though longer, passes over (arguably) less sensitive areas

I really don't think it's as simple an issue as people make out.
