As Americans, one of the things we do best, and one of the few times we are able to pull together, is mourning, as we did last week in profound grief over the tragic loss of the dynamic, young, courageous and talented public servant Beau Biden, son of Vice President Biden.
He was considered a sure bet to be Delawares next governor, and was a probable future senator and president, until he was struck down at only 46 years of age. Delaware residents and Americans nationwide joined the extended Biden family in three days of moving celebration of Beau Bidens life, capped by a personal and highly emotional eulogy by President Obama.
And one central theme dominated all the tributes: that Beau Biden, as remarkable as he was, got his courage in the face of adversity, his dedication to public service, his unbounded patriotism, and his love for the downtrodden from his father, of whom he was almost a carbon copy.
In many ways, last weeks testimonials were about both Beau Biden and Joe Biden.
Which raises an important question: In all the talk about the Democratic candidates for president in 2016, why isnt Joe Biden at the top of the list?

Well at least I wouldn't have to get 'shit-faced' on election day before heading to the polls, as I would have to be, in order to pull the lever for clinton.

(7,865 posts)You don't have to support Hillary. We have Caucuses and primaries to spare and Bernie Sanders is surging like crazy in the polls.
He can win the primary and he will win the election if he does. I can't guarantee you won't get drunk on election day but if we can get Bernie elected you can save the drinking for After you pull the lever and the results are in!

(1,735 posts)the Vice President realizes family is more important than personal ambition, and doesn't want to run? He's 72 and now needs to help heal his loved ones after tragedy. Bill Press should leave him alone

(72,790 posts)Eight years of Biden near the White House is enough, imo.
I want someone new. Not a Biden. Not an Obama. Not a Clinton. Not a Bush.
