Gingrich says birther claims not racist, are caused by Obama’s ‘radical’ views

Posted by Nia-Malika Henderson at 11:30 PM ET, 05/29/2012

LAS VEGAS — Former GOP White House hopeful Newt Gingrich, who has been accused of using racially charged language in his descriptions of President Obama, said he didn't believe there was anything racial about Donald Trump’s false claims that Obama was born in Kenya.

“I know that there is a desperate need to attach racism to everything but in fact I think that Donald Trump said what he said because it’s the right thing for him to say,” Gingrich said to reporters in the lobby of the Trump Hotel here ...

The premise is so contrived and silly it makes my teeth ache. They run with it on the news and say its been proven false and is a lie and that the people that perpetuate the myth are fools. Yet, they never miss an opportunity to run those stories and talk about them endlessly.
Why does NO MSM talking head ever counter, “he could not have been born in Kenya because Kenya didn’t exist when he was born.” WHY WHY WHY….its so simple and factual and renders the continued argument pointless and makes the person appear foolish.
To utter this foolishness and give it a name is to give it life.

Second the idea of someone having the thought process "He has radical political views, therefore he must be lying about his birthplace!" is much harder for me to believe than simple racism making angry people delusional.

Isn't this fun? Who would have guessed that Romney would have fallen into this trap? He will not extricate himself from it. Romney is incapable of separating himself from the birther nuts.
