Related: About this forumFormer Keystone XL lobbyist just joined Team Hillary
Clinton's newest hire has environmentalists questioning her commitment to fighting climate changeHillary Clintons newest campaign consultant is Jeffrey Berman, the strategist credited with her 2008 primary defeat and who, in the time since, has worked as a lobbyist for TransCanada, the company behind the Keystone XL pipeline. Environmentalists have a right to be concerned.
The pipeline, which would transport oil from Albertas tar sands to Gulf Coast refineries, is an incredibly controversial topic, one on which President Obama has still refused to make a definitive call though his rhetoric, as of late, has become more and more antagonistic to the idea. Clinton, as can be expected, flat-out refuses to address the question, which has left those hoping to divine her intentions left grasping at any small signs of which way she may be leaning.

on Hillary as "well we know now" because they swim in innuendo and make shit up.
My guess is they have exhausted the things you can say about Bernie

(41,832 posts)4. excerpt from New Republic article
In 2008, political operatives described Berman as an unsung hero of Obamas upset win over Clinton, due to a strategy that won Obama more delegates in key primaries when Clinton was still ahead in the popular vote. After Obamas win, Berman joined the lobbying firm Bryan Cave LLC, which retained TransCanada as a client until 2013.

This is purely a political operative. He has nothing to do with policy.
Just another tempest in a teapot. Not even a tempest.. Just a few raindrops.

Client name: TransCanada
Support Submission for a presidential permit for Keystone XL pipeline
TransCanada is headquartered in Canada, and the company would benefit from the construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline.
Same guy?
The lobbying report is actually for Bryan Cave LLP; it lists a Jeff Berman as a lobbyist.

I wonder if he was involved with the TPP/TPA lobbying efforts as well? Transcanada probably stands to benefit from that ruling too!
Hillary Clinton's Newest Consultant Was A Major Keystone Lobbyist

The newest hire for Hillary Clintons presidential campaign is a longtime strategist who played a key role in her 2008 primary defeat while working for then-Sen. Barack Obama.
Hes also a Washington lobbyist who lobbied the State Department -- led, at the time, by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton -- on behalf of the company seeking to build the controversial Keystone XL pipeline.
...
According to the filings, Berman and others lobbied to help obtain approval for Keystone Pipeline path through Missouri tracts and later to monitor climate change legislation and [push for a] presidential permit process for TransCanada Keystone Pipeline. (Other lobbying objectives were listed, but they largely mirrored these two).
Berman lobbied the House, the Senate and multiple federal agencies. In the second and fourth quarters of 2010 and the first quarter of 2011, the State Department was among the agencies that he lobbied. Clinton was running the department at the time.
